Football: Chichester students ground Swansea

Two weeks after winning a win away to Glamorgan, the team completed another Welsh raid to make up for a heartbreaking defeat to Hartpury the previous week.

Scott Dormer was an emergency centre-back alongside Callum Eagle with Dan Smith captain once again.

Chichester made a fast start with Ben Chick and Tom Smith causing havoc down the flanks and Sam Goodge leading the line superbly.

Left-back debutant Dale Waters - who was man of the match - had an excellent first-half and was solid defensively as well as expressing himself going forward.

Hagan and Jack Blatchford tried to control the midfield alongside Pau Busquets on a poor surface.

Hagan broke the deadlock on nine minutes, receiving the ball 20 yards out and smashing in an unstoppable shot with his un-favoured right foot.

Goodge, Tom Smith and Hagan all has chances while Swansea struggled for rhythm.

Swansea applied late first-half pressure, going closest with a goalmouth scramble heroically defended.

In the second half Chichester were unable to play football and were forced to soak up more pressure.

Matt Evans in goal organised his defence superbly as Dale Waters, Dormer, Eagle and Dan Smith kept it tight.

Tom Smith was played in by Goodge but was denied by a superb last-ditch challenge.

Jay Sullivan made his first-team debut and Chichester were forced to defend strongly.

They held firm to record a superb victory and make it four wins out of four this season against Welsh opposition.
