Football: Hundreds of teams enjoy Chichester kids’ tournament

Chichester City’s 13th annual six-a-side tournament was a success – despite the weather doing its best to upset things.

Saturday saw bright sunshine and smiling faces while Sunday saw wind and driving rain and a more determined look from the brave players, supporters and organisers.

The format of the tournament was hastily changed midday on Sunday to a knockout competition to shorten the day and prevent rain-sodden players and supporters having to wait around.

More than 120 teams and their supporters turned out over the weekend and many of the teams still managed to have fun – even in the driving rain.

The under-seven and under-eight teams held their matches as a fun day with all players receiving a medal.

U9 - Winners: Rustington Otters, Runners-up: Hurstwood Rangers; U10 – Winners: Rustington Otters, Runners-up: Chichester City Youth; U11 – Winners: Barnham Trojans, Runners-up: Lewes Bridgeview; U12 – Winners: Furngate Youth, Runners-up: Widbrook United; U13 – Winners: Barnham Trojans Red, Runners-up: Barnham Trojans Blue; U14 – Winners: Adur Athletic, Runners-up: Bognor Regis Town Colts; U15 – Winners: Fareham Town, Runners-up: Chichester City Youth.
