Football washed out again

After Hastings United’s game away to Sittingbourne in Ryman Football League Division One South was postponed yesterday, all four of the area’s Sussex County Football League sides have had their matches called-off this morning.

Rye United’s trip to Chichester City in Division One, and the Division Two games between Bexhill United and Broadbridge Heath, Little Common and Mile Oak, and Westfield and Storrington have all succumbed to waterlogged pitches.

It’s a similar story once again in the ADA East Sussex Football League where only 21 league matches have been completed since mid-December. The Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup quarter-final between Cowfold and Hollington United has been postponed for a third time.

To illustrate just how wet the last few weeks have been, Rye have had 11 of their last 14 scheduled games called-off, Little Common have played just once since Boxing Day and Westfield have only been in action once since the turn of the year.
