Forget Euro 2024 - it's all about the World Cup at Eastbourne Borough

Eastbourne Borough held their fifth annual World Cup Wellness Day for their youngest players, with boys and girls from ages three to 11 celebrating the end of another fun packed season.

Children from the club's community squads, disability teams and youth section enjoyed a fabulous carnival of colour, flags, food & refreshments, hair & face painting, amazing raffle prizes, event t-shirts on sale, photos with replica Champions League, World Cup & FA Cup trophies and of course lots of football fun all morning.

Players were split into the four countries of Spain, England, Italy and Brazil and battled it out to determine who would end up lifting the World Cup trophy as champions. A record 217 children in 40 teams were managed by 56 coaches and played 60 matches on 10 pitches! T

ournament Director Tim Brown was delighted with how well the morning played out, saying "Despite a damp start the children were without doubt the most excited and noisiest we've ever had - they were outstanding! We were also pleased this year to welcome for the first time local mental health charities ManKind Eastbourne, The Teen Anxiety Coach and The Old Bank Wellbeing Trust. Their staff generously gave up their time to highlight their work, make appointments, hold immediate private consultations in our hospitality boxes and speak to the crowds that came along for the morning. From the positive feedback we've had we will definitely be expanding this initiative at next year's event."

Staff from the club's official Community Partner EF Eastbourne were on hand to help run the event all morning and present the winning country Brazil with the Word Cup to cap a wonderful fully inclusive celebration of football at its very best.
