It was Littlehampton who made the better start to the game and went a goal in front on 23 minutes as David Herbert struck.

Ashford responded well to going a goal behind, though, and were level just seven minutes later as Zanone got his first of the game.

Zanone then struck again ten minutes later to get his and Ashford’s second.

The visitors had a number of openings in the second-half but failed to take their chances.
