Golds seal promotion back into Division 1

Victory at Midhurst gave them the point they need to return to the top-flight for the first time since 2007.

The promotion party had been put on hold on Saturday as Golds lost 3-1 at Eastbourne United, but goals from Jamie Thompson and George Gaskin on Tuesday night helped them seal the point they needed.

Golds boss Mark Bennett said: “It’s massive for us. It’s a big club and it has been in the doldrums for too long.

“I really think now, what with the reserves doing well, we have the chance to kick on and really progress.”
