Hailsham hit for 10 as Robinson fires home a double hat-trick for Newhaven

Ian Stevens, side who are third from bottom in the Southern Combination Premier, conceded after jus five minutes thanks to a strike from Callum Connor.

It got worse for the Stringers on 25 minutes as Lee Robinson score the first of his six. Oliver Davies, Ebou Jallow and Kyle Woolven were also on target for the hosts. Newhaven moved to fourth in the table on 49 points from their 21 matches.

Hailsham are back in action at the Beaconsfield on Saturday as they host league leaders Lancing in round three of the Peter Bentley Cup. Their next league match is at home against Arundel on January 16.

Eastbourne Town, who had their game at St Francis postponed, are third in the table on 50 points from 19 matches. John Lambert’s Town side travel to Ryman League outfit Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday night and on Saturday they return to league action as they welcome Chichester City to the Saffrons.

Lancing moved to the top of the table as their home game against Arundel went ahead. Max Howell fired Lancing into a 13th minute lead but Arundel’s Lewis Jenkins levelled just two minutes later.

Alexander Fair and Ross Adams gave the hosts a 3-1 lead at halftime and Lewis Finney added a fourth in the second half to seal the three points.

Second placed Horsham also played and they enjoyed a 2-0 home victory against Littlehampton. Terry Dodd and late one from Kieron Pamment hit the target for Horsham.

There was disappointment at the Oval for Tobi Hutchinson’s Eastbourne United. United, who are 10th in the table and were targetting a top six finish, suffered a 3-0 home defeat against Hassocks. Michael Deah opened the scoring on 13 minutes and Joshua Hawkes hit a second half double to complete the scoring.

In division one Haywards Heath powered past Seaford Town with a convincing 5-0 victory. Carl Dunk and Robert O’Toole both scored twice and Freddie Barker added a fifth in the 76th minute.

Haywards Heath are third in the table, three points behind leaders Crawly Down Gatwick but they have two games in hand. John Foley’s Seaford Town side remain second from bottom in the league standings with 11 points from their 20 games played. Saltdean United are rock bottom on seven points following their narrow 1-0 loss at Mile Oak. Jack Arnold was on target for the for the hosts.
