United will begin their preparations for a Ryman League Division One South promotion tilt by entertaining Conference South side Whitehawk.

U’s boss Terry White said that a couple of players may play the full 90 minutes, although naturally at this time of the year the main aim is to give as many people as possible some time on the pitch.

Playing against a team from two levels further up the non-league pyramid promises to be a good early test for a strong-looking United squad.

United and Whitehawk last met in the Ryman Premier Division during the 2012/13 season when the Hawks were promoted as champions and the U’s relegated. Kick-off at The Pilot Field tonight is 7.45pm, and admission is £6 for adults and free for under-21s.

United have further home friendlies against Lewes on Saturday and Eastbourne Borough next Tuesday before away matches against Sevenoaks Town on July 26, Eastbourne Town on July 29 and Ringmer on July 31, and a final home game against a Gillingham XI on August 2.
