Hastings led thorugh Lee Carey’s penalty two minutes into the second half and were within minutes of booking a third round trip to Middlesbrough in January.

However Harrogate levelled the tie when Simon Platt volleyed home at the far post following a left wing corner. United were looking good and the anticipated Harrogate onslaught during the closing quarter never really materialised.

There was one dangerous moment for United three minutes later, but they managed to block a Harrogate free kick from 25 yards out.

Dee Okojie shot wide from just outside the box, but Armstrong-Ford was fairly untroubled in the home goal until Harrogate struck in the nick of the time
