Haywards Heath Town leave it late – but get title bid back on track at Pagham
Haywards Heath’s SCFL Premier Division title bid is not looking quite as assured as it did – but the Blues got right back on track on Tuesday night.
Kev Green’s side had been overtaken at the top of the table by Steyning Town in a period in which they had multiple league games called off and lost a couple of games that did go ahead.
And their run to the last 16 of the FA Vase took up four out of five weekends recently.
A setback came at home to Bexhill last Saturday, when they led 2-0 early on through Harry Shooman and Mark Goldson, battled back to 3-3 thanks to a Camron Lawson strike after Bexhill led 3-2 – only to see the Pirates nab a late winner.

On Tuesday night, Heath played a rearranged game at Pagham – and trailed 1-0 deep into the second half. But late goals by new recruit Bruno Tavares – on his debut – and Ryan Warwick gave them a 2-1 win and put them back on top on goal difference. They have a game in hand on Steyning.
Green’s side have a big test ahead of them this weekend too – they cross the Channel to face play-off hopefuls Guernsey. And there’s no let-up for Heath, who visit Roffey in the RUR Cup next Tuesday.
