Broadbridge Heath rewarded their fans for travelling down to the coast with an excellent performance in thrashing hosts Seaford Town 6-0 on Saturday.

The first half was a fairly even contest with Heath kicking up the slope and chances were few and far between.

Kieron Purkis did strike the post with one effort midway through the half and Jake Holmes had another effort that went straight into the keeper’s arms, while at the other end a shot from distance kept Heath’s goalkeeper James Fisher on his toes.

Eight minutes before the break Michael Wood’s snapshot was saved well at the near post by the Seaford keeper and from the resulting corner Andy Howard gave his team the lead with a header back across the goal into the far corner.

Within three minutes of the second half restart, another Heath corner found its way to Howard who knocked it past the keeper for 2-0.

Nine minutes later Saz Bidgood dispossessed the Seaford centre-back and played the ball through to Purkis, who ran on to shoot past the keeper and make it 3-0.

Man of the match Bidgood was also involved with Heath’s fourth when he again won the ball off a defender and played in Holmes, who took the ball round the keeper to score.

Heath were now swarming all over their hosts, who continued to push players forward but were leaving gaps at the back. Tiago Andrade had a shot cleared off the line and from the resulting corner Howard’s effort fell to Andrade who made it 5-0.

In the final minute Bidgood was again the provider, this time picking out the run of Andrade with a raking pass, and Andrade rounded the keeper to make the final score 6-0 to Heath.

Another good performance from Steve Painter’s side keeps them fourth in the table, just outside the automatic promotion places but with 11 games still to play.

On Saturday Heath entertain AFC Uckfield, the last team to beat them in the league back on September 28.

BBH: Fisher, Etherington, Godfrey, Flack (Day 64), Howard, Waddingham, Godfrey, Bidgood, Holmes, Sultan (McDermott 70), Purkis (Andrade 66).
