Heath starting to feel the pressure but twice get out of jail against Ferring

Haywards Heath face a busy finish to the season and already seem to be feeling the pace after being held twice by Ferring in three days.

And in both games they had to come from behind to salvage a point and maintain an unbeaten run that now stretches back 21 games to the first month of the season.

Saturday’s escape act was the most impressive after the hosts struck twice in three minutes through Sean O’Reilly (60) and Barney Boutwood (63).

Blues rallied to pull one back from 25 yards by Danny Mobsby (72) before Grant Reed’s first goal eight minutes later earned a point.

Simon Corless’ side struggled again at Hanbury on Tuesday, when they were already without Mark Feist before losing Mobsby (45) and Alex Bygraves (55) to injury during the match.

Boutwood put Ferring ahead on the hour but five minutes from time sub Dave Juniper punished a defensive lapse by lifting the ball over the keeper for his first senior goal of the season.

On Tuesday Heath face Hassocks Reserves in the Sussex Intermediate Cup final at Lancing.

This Tuesday Hurstpierpoint were held to a goalless home draw by Ifield.
