Hildreth proud despite late storm from Hemel

Having led the EBL Division 1 clash 60-51 heading into the final quarter, the hosts put in a storming last period to win 83-77.

Hemel hit 20 points to Worthing’s four in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, after Thunder had lost Tomas Seduikis to injury.

Hildreth was disappointed with the outcome of the game, but said: “I was very proud with how the guys played and it was an excellent game of basketball, a real advert of how the game should be played.

“We started off fantastically. Hit our shots, ran the plays expertly and, most importantly, we were defensively intense and caused Hemel a lot of problems.

“In the second half, they came out and really tested us, and for ten minutes, we weathered the storm as it were, Dom (Baker) hit a big three that looked to give us momentum.

“Credit to Hemel, they took advantage of Tomas being out of the game and their inside play hurt us.

“Despite the loss, though, I’m very proud of my players for the fight that they had shown and it was a great game to watch. We were just unlucky that we didn’t get the win.”
