Horsham extended their unbeaten home run in the league to five games following a 2-0 win over Haringey Borough in the BetVictor Premier Division on Saturday.

A goal in each half from Lee Harding and Greg Cundle sealed the win for the Hornets.

Despite Rob O'Toole's late penalty miss, the Hornets picked up their first league victory in five and maintained their play-off push.

Horsham remain sixth but are just a point behind place-above Carshalton Athletic and three behind fourth-placed Cray Wanderers.

Dominic Di Paola made a solitary change from Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Kingstonian. Cundle came in for Kieran Lavery.

Charlie Harris returned to the Hornets squad for the first time since the 1-0 defeat at Merstham on January 18.

The opening quarter of the game was a quiet affair. The Hornets had the majority of the possession but were struggling to turn the screw.

But on 14 minutes, in their first real foray forward, Horsham opened the scoring.

Cundle's curled effort was fumbled by Borough keeper Johnathan Miles.

The ball fell to Harding who delicately dinked the ball over Miles' for his second goal in three games.

And three minutes later the Hornets had a great chance to double their lead

Alex Kelly's free-kick on the edge of the Haringey box fell just wide of the post.

Despite going ahead, Horsham failed to press home their advantage.

The hosts, again, retained the ball well but were lacking a cutting edge in the final third.

Haringey meanwhile were offering little in the way of attacking intent and were struggling to get a foothold in the game.

But the clash saw a flurry of chances on 34 minutes. Chris Smith's cross found Jack Brivio at the back post but the Hornets' captain couldn't direct his header goalwards.

Borough replied with two efforts in as many minutes. Roman Michael-Percil had a shot on the edge of the box well blocked by Will Miles before the Haringey number seven forced a great save from George Bentley following a jinking run into the area.

Bentley was called into action almost immediately after the second half restart.

The Hornets keeper did well to palm away a Christopher Regis shot as Borough looked to take the initiative.

But Horsham had a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 two minutes later.

A brilliant ball over the top of the Haringey defence found Smith in the area.

The forward took a touch and rounded Borough keeper Miles but his strike clipped the stanchion.

Just before the hour mark, Harding pounced a loose ball and his driven shot was palmed away by Miles.

The ball fell to Smith, who looked odds on to tap home, but Rakim Richards produced a goal-saving tackle to deny the striker.

Horsham finally added to their lead on 75 minutes. Brivio cut the ball across the face of the box found Cundle who slotted the ball into the roof of the net.

At the death, the Hornets' penalty curse struck again. Cundle was hauled down in the box and a spot-kick was rewarded.

Substitute O'Toole hit his penalty well but Miles produced a flying save to keep the forward out.
