Hughton disappointed with managerial casualties and calls for more time for bosses

So far this season, 15 Championship managers have been sacked and Hughton has been disappointed with the short timeframe some bosses have been given.

Gary Brazil (Nottingham Forest), Warren Joyce (Wigan Athletic), Steve McClaren (Derby), Warren Joyce (Wigan) and Alex Neil (Norwich) have all been sacked this month and Hughton said: “If I speak about the Championship, it’s never nice when you see a manager lose his job.

“We’ve all been through it and we’ve all been in that position. In the game, we cry out for a level of stability at clubs and it’s difficult when we’re crying out for that stability and we’re having the amount of changes we have, particularly in the Championship this season.

“It’s always sad but unfortunately it’s never a massive surprise these days. I certainly feel we need to get back to levels of stability at clubs.”

When asked if managers should get more time, Hughton said: “As somebody who has been in the game a long time and of course has managed, it’s something I would like to see - managers given more time to implement the way that they want to play and more time for recruitment to work.

“At the moment the merry-go-round we have, certainly in the Championship, is far too constant.”
