Reds were beaten by two Mark Cullen goals in the League Tow season opener and Yems was not happy with the first half performance. You can see the full interview below

He said: "First half we were no where near it, not acceptable, not good enough.

"We worked on things, but there's no point working on things if you don't take it on the pitch."

But he did praise Port Vale, adding: "They will be in and around it at the end of the season Port Vale, have no doubt about that, they have done well in the summer and they are a big club, no excuses for us in the first half.

"I thought we were absolutely diabolical, and I told them so.

"They were a lot better than us, they were more physical than us. I think they had a better game plan than us and they worked on it. I don't think we stuck to what we worked on."

And Yems knows what they can take from this defeat. He said: "They can take away how they finished the game and they can take away they are going to work twice as hard in training. And they can take away they have got to improve, because that is not acceptable.

"And that's not me throwing my toys out of the pram, of course they need time to settle in but there were a few little things here that didn't represent what I'm all about and what the club's all about in the first half.

"And that's showing a little bit more desire and a bit more bottle."
