Crawley Town fans can expect a blend of youth and experience under new boss Dermot Drummy.

The new head coach penned a two-year contract to take to the helm at Reds on Wednesday.

He will be assisted by former Aldershot Town coach Matt Gray and the pair are looking to play an attractive 4-3-3 at the club.

Drummy revealed he had been watching League Two football for some time and cannot wait to get started.

He was set to meet and train the player today ahead of their trip to Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday.

Speaking on the club’s website, he said: “It’s important we get a winning mentality, but also a winning environment around the whole place; around the whole town.

“I like to play attractive football. For me, attractive football is 4-3-3, to try and play through the thirds of the pitch, but I’ll also look at the players and the qualities they’ve got .

“If we sometimes we need more direct football, we’ll do that.

“I want to bring, hopefully, a winning formula and something that’s entertaining to watch.”

And despite his past experience predominately having been managing in youth football at both Arsenal and Chelsea, the former midfielder is looking to incorporate a good mix.

Drummy added: “I think you need a balance, but I would count young as 18 or 19 and I would call experienced, 26 or 27 with a couple of 30-year-olds.

“You need legs, but you also need lads, not just on the pitch, but around the club that have been there and performed.”

Drummy will meet the press for the first time tomorrow. Stay tuned to www.crawleyobserver.co.uk and Twitter for updates.
