Injury-hit Bexhill see off Wick

Bexhill United overcame their injury problems to win 1-0 at Wick on Saturday.

Steve Morris scored the only goal - his 13th of the season - during the first half as Bexhill moved to within two points of the top three in Sussex County Football League Division Two.

Little Common had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Steyning Town in the same division. Steyning went ahead after half-an-hour and Common missed a number of chances before Dominic Cruttenden levelled six minutes from time.

Westfield’s run of six wins in seven Division Two matches ended with a 2-0 loss away to second-placed Littlehampton Town. It was Westfield’s third defeat without scoring against a strong Marigolds side this season.

In Division One, Sidley United lost 5-0 away to fourth-placed Hassocks with all the goals coming during the second half. The Blues had lost only one of their previous eight games in all competitions and won at Hassocks in the FA Cup during August.

Full reports on all these matches will appear in Friday’s Observers. Rye United’s FA Vase third round tie at home to South Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and has been rearranged for next weekend.
