Ipswich 2 - 0 Albion

Albion’s six match unbeaten run was shattered by David McGoldrick this afternoon as his brace fired Ipswich to a 2-0 victory over Oscar Garcia’s men.

The 25-year-old struck his fourth and fifth goal of the season to shoot Ipswich up to ninth in the Championship table while the Seagulls languish in 12th.

The former Nottingham Forest striker’s first had an element of luck about it, as his long ranged effort clipped Keith Andrews and looped over a hapless Tomasz Kuszczak.

His second, however, was well taken. Just four minutes after his opener the pacy forward latched onto a flicked header from the impressive Daryl Murphy before turning Albion skipper Gordon Greer inside out and fizzing the ball low into the far corner.

Albion were left cursing their luck as earlier in the game Andrew Crofts spurned a golden opportunity to put the Seasiders into the lead.

Will Buckley’s fine run was followed by a dragged pass into the Wales international’s path, but Crofts, who has two goals to his name this season, skewed his shot wide of goal.

Oscar can be rightly aggrieved with his players’ efforts in front of goal this afternoon as they failed to muster a single shot on target.

The visitors had a late shout for a spot-kick after Tommy Smith looked to have handled Buckley’s attempted cross but McGoldrick’s first half double was enough to seal a deserved victory for the Tractor Boys.
