Green moved up to second in the Championship North Division of the West Sussex Football League with a convincing display against a team that has proved somewhat of a bogey side in the past.

Goals from Tom Cottrell (two), Tom Williams, Ricky Etheridge, Jamie Wrigely and Dylan Beagley ensured the rout, meaning Wisborough continued their unbeaten home start and made it 11 goals in two games.

In pretty poor condition and a difficult surface, the hosts led early on in somewhat fortuitous circumstances as Cottrell found himself with the ball at his feet and the box, but his miscued shot that was going wide, was caught by the wind and ended up in the top corner.

The in-form winger, who was giving the Wescott right-back a torrid time, added a second midway through the half as he finished a good flowing move from an Etheridge pass.

Wrigley entered the fray on 25 minutes and soon notched his first of three assists as heis free kick hit the wall and was feed to Williams, who took a touch and then fired home his first goal for the club from 25 yards.

In the second half, Etheridge added another fine finish to his account this season after Wrigley won a tackle outside the opposition's box. Wrigley then capped his excellent afternoon with a looping header to make it 5-0.

Dylan Beagley rounded off the scoring late on with a volleyed finish into the net from inside the box to round off a good afternoon's work.

Wisborough joint boss Ollie Berry said: "This was easily our best result of the season. I don't think we have ever beat Wescott, so to do it with such aplomb was extremely pleasing. They are a good side and to be honest, a team I thought would be right up there this season.

"We have said to the lads all season, you'll be rewarded for the effort you put in and that was clearly the case on Saturday. Having said that, we are also playing some great football in all areas of the pitch and that comes from ability as well as desire.

"The conditions were horrible and we had them to thank for our first goal to be honest, but they were the same for both sides and we managed them better. We look forward to a third versus second clash at Pulborough on Saturday - there pitch is one of the best around, so I'm sure this week's rain won't affect the game being on."
