Jimmy Dack looks ahead to tough game against Morecambe

Crawley Town assistant manager Jimmy Dack wants to see Reds be more consistent following on-off displays in their last two matches.

After Tuesday night’s important win victory against Newport, he expects Saturday’s game against Morecambe to be another difficult challenge.

Dack said: ““It’s been the story of our season really - inconsistency - it’s most frustrating but you just have to keep working with them.

“You’ve got to try to get the best out of your players.

“Hopefully if they leave here, they leave here better players.

“I thought the Newport win was a big win for us.

“They had a go (Newport) but it wasn’t their night. We took our chance and the It was good for confidence and mainly for the reaction from Saturday when we weren’t at our best.

“Always a tough game is Morecambe - I know they’ve lost a few of late but Jim Bentley’s a fantastic manager.

“In the early part of the season they were probably playing some of the best football I have seen League 2 sides play for a long time.

“They’ve got (Kevin) Ellison who is 37 is just an inspiration as a professional footballer.

“We’ll look forward to it and give it our best shot like we always do.”

Dack praised defender Lanre Oyebanjo who played his first match of the season having recovered from a knee injury.

He said: “We’ve missed Lanre massively. He’s come in and looked solid. He’s a big character in the dressing room but most importantly he makes good decisions on the football pitch.”

Dack also praised goalscorer Shamir Fenelon who netted their second goal of the day in what was his second goal in successive matches.

“Shamir’s a confidence player. He must learn to use his tools the right way - his biggest asset is his pace and he keeps stretching teams, and hopefully he can have a good finish to the season.”
