Ladies' football: Shrubb is helping Chichester blossom

Chichester have bounced back well after a slow start to the season and are now undefeated in five matches - convincingly beating Arlesey 6-2 at Oaklands Park in their latest outing.

Chi were determined to set an example to the girls’ team, who hard turned up to support the senior side once again, and the Lilywhites dominated from start to finish.

Full-backs Paul and Hughes Jones put crosses into the box within the first 90 seconds before a flurry of shots saw the woodwork come to Arlesey’s rescue on several occasions.

A cross found Challen, who smashed the ball home only to be declared offside.

Arlesey caught City on the counter-attack. Chichester’s players stopped still after a blatant handball but no free-kick was given and Arlesey took the lead.

Chichester came out all guns blazing and Abbey Shrubb took just four minutes to notch up yet another hat-trick.

Chi continued to dominate and Shrubb added a fourth with help from Widdowson. A mistake from Starkey allowed an Arlesey striker in to get one back.
