Ladies share ten goals ... reserves don't share ten goals

Chichester Ladies faced early leaders Chesham at Oaklands Park in a ten-goal thriller which finished 5-5.

Chesham have been scoring goals for fun so started as favourites.

But Chichester started brightly and soon found themselves two up thanks to in-form striker Abbey Shrubb.

Chesham soon found their stride and started to dominate in the middle of the park. After a period of sustained pressure Chichester conceded three quick goals as Chesham showed why they hadn’t dropped any points.

After the break Chichester came out fighting and dominated early exchanges. Out of nowhere Chesham scored another as the Lilywhites found themselves 4-2 behind.

The home side rallied and Shrubb had smashed in another two.

It seemed the game would end in a draw but Chesham drove through midfield and netted in the 92nd minute.

Devastated Chichester pressed hard and earned themselves a late corner.

Chesham cleared the ball as far as the edge of the 18-yard box, where a predatory Starkey stuck a sweet volley into the net.

A long journey to Cambridge FC awaits Chichester this week.

Crawley could field only nine players and Chichester started brightly with quick passing from Lauren Ellis and Kally Ambler,.

Ambler made it 1-0 with barely three minutes on the clock and two quick goals from Ellis made it 3-0 after 15 minutes.

The Chichester defence nearly gave Crawley a goal with a poor back pass. Cassie Whelan made it four from a corner and Ambler got her second before half-time.

Crawley came out in the second half with a different shape but the game continued in the Crawley half.

It was 6-0 when Ambler completed her hat-trick from six yards. Jess Harnett made it 7-0 before Amy Bailey made it eight and a short corner between Harnett and Ambler made it 9-0. Georgia Selby finished the rout with a nice volley from five yards in the last minute.

Woman of the match was Ambler. Chichester’s next game is at home to Crawley at Oaklands Park and Chichester need to be wary of complacency after such a stroll.

City are still top of the league with three wins out of three.

Chichester ladies are seeking sponsors. Firms can get an individual player’s sponsorship for £75 or £250 – the latter includes a new tracksuit and kit bag with the sponsor’s name and logo.

A kit sponsor is needed by the reserves. A sum of £500 buys a new kit (white shirts, green shorts, green socks) which can have your firm’s name and logo on for three years. The team play at least 20 games a season but it can be up to 26. Sponsors’ names and an advert will be in all the matchday programmes.

Another £500 is needed to sponsor an away strip for either the first or the reserves, giving sponsors a chance to be involved in choosing the colours. This will be worn by the firsts and reserves in away games where our main kit clashes and will also be worn by Chichester College girls’ team.

A board at the ground is available for £250 and the team are looking for a minibus to help with away journeys. The website –
