‘I stepped down because of the potential. If we get promoted to League One, who will be the biggest club in that division? I’m already there.
‘It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think it was a clever one. We will see at the end of the season if it was clever or not.

‘It’s not going to be easy but I think we’re already ready for the next step if it happens.
‘We just need to get out of this league. It won’t be easy. There will be ups and downs and frustrations, but the whole thing, the size and potential of the club, means we can do it.’
