Langton: ‘Some of our players aren’t good enough’

Horsham took the lead on the half hour when striker Daniel Morris scored against his former club with a nicely taken shot into the roof of the net following a good ball across the area by Calum McGeehan.

However they only led for seven minutes before the home side equalised when Stafforde Palmer nodded in a corner.

Met Police then took the lead within three minutes of the start of the second half as Ryan James scored from a cross from the right by Craig Brown.

The second half turned out to be a disaster for Hornets fans as they then let slip two more goals in the last eight minutes.

Former Crawley Town defender and Millwall youth Jack McLeod came off the bench and scored a tremendous goal from long-range having been put through by Palmer.

Finally another substitute, Chris Bourne, fired a 25-yard shot into the top of the net to seal Horsham’s fate.

Langton said: “Our back-four was decent today: Louis Hollingsworth was good and Ian Varley did a brilliant job of stopping their right wing back.

“Some players will be leaving the club. We were 1-0 up and didn’t build on it then we conceded a poor, poor, poor goal.

“I don’t believe they are good enough and their attitude isn’t correct. I don’t want them here long term.

“The supporters are probably fed up with us conceding stupid goals and me being over positiive. The fact of the matter is some of the players aren’t good enough.

“It was like a birthday party in the second half with their three goals. We handed it to them on a plate.”

Langton insisted the team’s caving in for the second successive week was not how they had planned to play.

He said: “We worked on defending from wide areas in training on Thursday. But there was little evidence of what we worked on today.

“I believe the training’s correct, it’s relevant and I know what I’m doing. I’m not going to defend them anymore.

“The boys have been prepared properly for today as they are every week.

“But when it comes to 3pm on a Saturday it’s over to them. I’m sitting here and talking about defeat. I’m getting very very bored of it.”
