Leslie: Football is crazy – and it's so good to see Eastbourne Borough buzzing again
Football is a crazy game.
Some results leave you smiling for days, and last Saturday brought one of them.
A 6-0 win over Hampton & Richmond at the Connect Management Stadium genuinely felt like someone had slipped a Ted Lasso script under the door.
Everything clicked. The energy, the confidence, the connection between the players and the crowd, it was one of those afternoons that remind you why football gets under your skin and refuses to leave. It’s a shame only 700-odd were there to witness it.

What I loved most wasn’t just the scoreline; it was the feeling around the place. People were happy. Kids were buzzing. The town felt alive with football again. That matters to me more than anything.
Now we roll into another big weekend – tomorrow we’re away at Dorking. These are the days when the Pink Army really make the difference.
If you can get there, come and be part of it. The lads feel your presence, they talk about it, they feel lifted by it, and it genuinely changes the way we play. Away support is a superpower in this league.
Back home, I’m excited for the women’s team, who are in action against Leatherhead on Sunday at the Connect Management Stadium at 3pm. Their progress and spirit this season has been brilliant to watch and they deserve a strong crowd cheering them on. It is free to watch.
And speaking of crowds, we’re doing something special: Football for a Fiver – next Saturday, December 13, when we play Chelmsford City.
We wanted to give something back. To say thank you. To open the doors wide and make it easy for everyone to come along.
So it’s simple: £5 for everyone. Bring the family, bring your mates, bring someone who’s never been before.
Let’s pack this place, fill up the stadium with laughter and community. Days like these can spark something lasting. It will be a day of Christmas spirit.
Thank you, as always, for the love you’ve shown me and the club. It never goes unnoticed.
