'Let's get behind the team' - Crawley Town boss John Yems urges fans to back his side after Scunthorpe United draw

After the game Yems praised his side for the hard work his side put in in to get the draw:

He said: "I’m trying to get them fired up. It’s a tough place to come to.

"There was only one winner I thought, in the second half and that was us.

"They’re always dangerous but the boys put a shift in. They’ll always try and work for the club and the supporters, the real supporters."

The Reds boss also urged the fans to back his team over the coming weeks.

Yems added: "We all play together, we all work together and we want to win and as I’ve said before, the Crawley fans, the real fans, get behind you.

"We don’t need the negativity. I don’t give two monkeys what people think or say about me, but you see the team out there wanting to play for us. So let’s get behind the team.

"We can all be smart and sit behind computers and tell everyone what we're doing wrong, but you see the boys out there working for you, for the supporters, for me, for everybody. And we got a result so let’s get on with it."

Yems admitted that the tough recent schedule has impacted his players.

He said: "Quarter to six we got back to Crawley (after making the long trip to Carlisle United on Tuesday evening).

"We were back on the coach yesterday at half past 11, we got the walking wounded, we got all those things going on, but the boys stuck at it and now it’s down to us to get them through it.

"There’s loads of people telling me what I’m doing is wrong, slaughtering the fans and it’s got nothing to do with that.

"The players love the supporters, it was a pity that they weren’t here watching it."

The Crawley boss also particular praise for defender Nick Tsaroulla’s performance during the match.

Yems added: "He’s 22 and you’ve got quite a bit of looking forward to in the future.

"But it’s all positive, there’s not an ounce of panic round the place and it just frustrates me more than anything else having know quite a few of the Crawley supporters and the real supporters, people that pay their money every week to come out.

"Everyone’s entitled to say what they do and what they say, but I keep saying, while I’m here the boys won’t let you down through their effort, through their determination to try and get a result.

Yems was also pleased to have options coming back into his side.

Sam Matthews returned from injury from the bench while Jordan Tunnicliffe was among the subs following his injury lay-off

He said: "Its good to have the options. Sam has come back from injury. It gives me a selection problem.

"We haven’t had these people to pick on but don’t worry about it we’ll just solider on and Monday will come, and we’ll see what’s going on."
