Loxwood Youth Football Club going from strength to strength as it offers development programme from under-7s to under-16s

At a time when good news is sometimes hard to find, Loxwood Youth Football Club is busy developing an exciting and comprehensive programme of football development across all age-groups from under-7s to under-16s.

With an already burgeoning membership, the foundations are firmly in place for continued prosperity in the future.

For a start the club has access to three different football grounds with multiple pitches. This allows the club to offer a varied football environment which is tailored to meet the specific needs of each of age group from under-7s to the under-16s, as well as the flexibility and space to comfortably accommodate both training and competitive football matches simultaneously.

The younger teams compete in the South Surrey Youth Football League on Saturdays and the older age groups, under-15s and under-16s, compete in the Arun and Chichester Youth Football League on Sundays.

All the youth coaches in the club are Football Association-qualified, but they also have access to the excellent coaching ability and top-class facilities enjoyed by the Loxwood senior men’s team, which competes in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League.

Mark Lacey, chairman of the senior group said: “Our new management team including Spencer Slaughter and Paul Dollner are very keen to continue the development of the young players and Loxwood’s home ground, The Nest, on which the older youth teams also play, was even recently voted Best Ground in the league!”

LYFC chairman Colin Ramsay agreed, adding: “The tailored coaching programme has been designed on a highly professional basis, utilising up-to-the-minute techniques as well as involving guest coaches and external fitness coaches. This whole programme is designed to ensure a ‘one club’ approach with ‘one ethos’ running throughout”.

Anyone visiting the club could not fail to feel the enthusiasm and commitment of the individuals involved at Loxwood Youth Football Club and they are not without success either. For example in the season just gone the under-14 team won their League and the Cup without losing a match all season and the under-15 team reached their Cup Final, which is yet to be played due to the current cessation of competitive grass roots football.

There is little doubt Loxwood Youth FC is geared for success and, while that is important, the driving ambition and ethos of the club is to provide for the young people of Loxwood and its environs with a very rewarding, progressive, fun and inclusive healthy environment in which youth players can really thrive and develop their skills and physical wellbeing.

In this structured pathway to senior football, both younger and older children can enjoy the very best in youth football. LYFC Chairman Colin Ramsay says: “We are delighted with our progress and growth as a club to this point, thanks to so much hard work from the coaches and the brilliant contribution of our fabulous committee. That combined with the fantastic support from the senior team means we know we can go from strength-to-strength in the future”.
