Match gallery: Rockettes knocked out of League Cup by Beaconsfield

Amelia Kimble won an early free kick for Beaconsfield but Poppy Lloyd's ball in was gathered in the area by Nicole Robinson in the game's first chance on 8 minutes. Bognor responded well though when Bec Bell-Thorns put the ball in with her cross with goalkeeper, Lillie-Maye Clark stranded but the follow up by Freya Boxer broke down.

Bell-Thorns then played a neat pass forward into the box for Talliah Anderson on 14 minutes but her turn inside was diverted by a defender into the goalkeeper's arms. Kate Delillis' ball through was good soon after but Boxer strayed offside. Lucie Selvester had a long range effort bounce narrowly wide from distance on 22 minutes and then Boxer made it to the edge of the box before diverting it along the deck and wide of the left post.

The Rockettes took the lead on 24 minutes as Sophia Poling's freekick from Bognor's half bounced once before flying over the goalkeeper and into the net. The Rockettes had a good chance soon after as Anderson was set through but Clark was quick out of her goal to block her. Kimble used her strength to run through the middle but slid down before hitting it wide of the goal in response.

Kimble won a free kick just outside the box. Up stepped Mollie Haines who hit it around the wall but straight into the arms of Robinson. On 34 minutes, Sophie Humphrey replaced Anderson in an earlier than expected change. Boxer and Lucie Wright combined well on the left to win a corner. Selvester took the freekick which fell right onto the boot of Poling who diverted it narrowly over the crossbar on the volley in the 40th minute.

Wright's free kick was headed out onto the right where Alice Gue hooked the ball back into the area, but Poling headed the ball just over on 44 minutes.

Alix Todd got the equaliser for the visitors in the 49th minute as her low freekick was deflected low and in beyond a diving Robinson. Then Katie Riddington hit a curling long range effort soon after with her left foot and this forced a good save from Robinson who tipped it around the post. Todd hit another long range freekick but it dipped just in front of Robinson who had to divert it away again with her shins.

Bognor had a great chance on 57 minutes as Bell-Thorns was set through on goal down the right but her high effort clipped the crossbar and the rebound flew out to Boxer who headed over with the goal open. On 63 minutes Lou Lou Robson replaced Ellie Jefkins for Bognor. Robinson clashed with a Beaconsfield Town attacker and bravely got in the way. After a long stoppage, Robinson did return to play in 69 minutes as the referee awarded a drop ball to the hosts.

Bognor went behind as returning substitute Kimble fired it low and into the bottom left corner after a short run on 71 minutes. Anderson came back on again on 72 minutes for Boxer. Delillis set up Humphrey on the left and she crossed it straight to Anderson in the heart of the box, but her touch bounced off her and straight to Clark on 75 minutes.

Ava Lyon did well on the counter attack to set up Zuzanna Wojtaszewska but after her run beyond defence, her strike flew straight into the grateful arms of Robinson. Humphrey played the ball back to Robson, who hit it from distance but that was gathered by Clark on 82 minutes. Then Wright's cross fell to Bell-Thorns but she placed her right footed effort bouncing wide.

Chloe Blanks replaced Wright on 86 minutes for the Rockettes. Kimble was given a sin bin, leaving the visitors with 10 women. This just before Robson's freekick flew straight to Clark. Lola Bowditch replaced Selvester in the first minute of stoppage time as the clock ticked down.

The referee blew the final whistle after just three minutes of stoppage time. The Rockettes were therefore knocked out of the league cup. They return to league action on Sunday (November 1) when they travel to Bournemouth Sports Reserves – before returning to home action on Sunday, November 8, as AFC Portchester visit Nyewood Lane with a 2pm kick-off.
