Mullets perform well but Sidley take the points

ARUNDEL Football Club manager Brett Torode had no complaints about the way his side played on Tuesday evening, despite their 4-2 defeat at Sidley in County League Division 1.

Torode felt his side played well but they missed several chances and did not defend well enough, which led to their downfall.

Sidley struck twice in the opening 20 minutes, but Mullets created chances in the first half and Mike Huckett, Lewis Jenkins and Rory Biggs went close before Jenkins got a goal back on 38 minutes.

Jenkins twice got through one-on-one at the start of the second half but hit the post with one opportunity and had the other saved, before Sidley went 3-1 up on 56 minutes.

Mullets’ Luke Jearum was then denied by two fantastic saves, before the hosts got a fourth on 79 minutes.

Dave Herbert smashed home a cracker into the top corner in the final minute to get a goal back for Mullets.

Torode said: “We played very well but just didn’t defend well enough and we missed seven or eight good chances. If we’d got it back to 2-2 at the start of the second half, I think we’d have gone on to win the game.”
