Mourinho was sacked as head coach last month, just days before the Carabao Cup final, which Spurs lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

Ryan Mason was appointed interim manager for that game, and has remained in charge as the north London club look to finish the season by qualifying for Europe.

However, Potter is the new favourite to take charge permanently this summer after continuing to impress at Brighton with his brand of football on a shoestring budget.

Julian Nagelsman was highly fancied before opting to join Bayern Munich this summer, while Rafa Benitez, Scott Parker and Brendan Rodgers have also been linked with the job.

Italian Simone Inzaghi, currently at Lazio, was named frontrunner at the start of the week, but the dds have now shifted to place Potter at the head of the queue.

The Englishman, who has successfully kept his side in the Premier League for another season, is priced at 5/1 by BetVictor. Potter joined Brighton two years ago after a successful spell at Swansea City, having started his coaching career in Sweden.

Latest odds: Graham Potter 5/1; Simone Inzaghi 6/1; Scott Parker 6/1; Brendan Rodgers 8/1; Rafa Benitez 12/1; Antonio Conte 14/1; Nuno Espirito Santo 14/1; Roberto Martinez 16/1; Ryan Mason 16/1; Jurgen Klinnsmann 20/1; Julen Lopetegui 20/1; Maurizio Sarri 20/1; Eddie Howe 20/1; Ralf Rangnick 20/1.
