No Blues goal rush but they are satisfied with a point

Selsey earned a hard-fought point by holding East Grinstead to a goalless draw at the High Street Ground in division one of the Sussex League.

The Blues were in high spirits following their 6-0 drubbing of St Francis but could not find their goal touch in a competitive game.

Manager Adam Hinshelwood said: “It was a really even game against a very good side.

“It was the kind of game that would have taken the odd goal for someone to nick the game but ultimately it was a fair result.

“Their manager was delighted to come away with a point and that shows just how far we’ve come this season.”

In a game of few chances, EG top scorer Sam Schaaf shot wide and Michael Belli went close when his effort beat the Selsey goalkeeper only to cannon back off the bar.

The result left Selsey in seventh place and attention now turns to a trip to bottom side Ringmer this weekend.

Hinshelwood believes his team will have to fight for a result, saying: “If we go with the determination and the will we’ve shown in the past two weeks, we’ll give a good account of ourselves and hopefully get the result we want.”
