Ray pleased with United display

HASTINGS United continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 win over a Crawley Town Development XI side.

The U’s stormed into a three-goal lead against opposition made up of of the League One club’s talented under-21 players.

Hastings player-manager Sean Ray said: “We played some really good football in the first half. I was really pleased and really impressed. We’re looking okay.”

On target were Zac Attwood, Bradley Goldberg, Elliot Cox and Dee Okojie.

“The pleasing thing is we are getting results and getting performances and this is early doors,” Ray went on. “Hopefully we are going to get stronger as it goes on. I’m hoping we can surprise a few people this year.”

Ray named a 20-strong squad which included three under-16s and one under-15. That same night a United reserve side lost 5-0 away to Hythe Town.

Hastings continue their pre-season friendlies with two games at The Pilot Field on Saturday against Bexhill United (12 noon) and Little Common (3pm).
