The former Millwall skipper has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the heart of the defence, making 38 appearances and scoring two goals.

His injury-enforced absence since March has coincided with Pompey’s dip in form, a period which saw Andy Awford leaving his post as manager by mutual consent.

In addition, the Blues players chose Jack Whatmough as their young player of the year.

The talented defender has made 24 appearances but has been injured since March.

He saw off competition from Ben Close and Conor Chaplin for the title.

Meanwhile, Pompey reserves today end their campaign with a trip to Cambridge United (2pm).

Paul Hardyman’s side have the chance to cement second spot in the Final Third Development League’s South Division.
