Tom Holland was at the double for Bognor Regis Town as the young Rocks overcame Godalming Town in the preliminary round of the FA Youth Cup at Nyewood Lane on Tuesday.

The U18s were on the front foot from the off and continued to play an attacking brand of football that proved too strong for their opponents.

Toby Hewett scored a delightful solo effort after just eight minutes following some good build-up play. And Hewett was involved in a decisive slice of action for Holland’s first of his brace. The former turned goal provider with a cross-goal pass to allow Holland to find the net on 27 minutes.

Holland grabbed his second and put the tie out of reach of the spirited visitors after half an hour thanks to Ross Wilson’s excellent assist. Godalming upped their resilience in the second half and to their credit they were able to deny the hosts any more goals.

Secretary Trevor Hall was delighted with the display and victory. He said: “All round it was a very good team performance on the night – we played some great attacking football, which was lovely to see.”
