Rocks mourn midfielder Kim

He passed away at the Rowans Hospice in Purbrook, Hampshire, aged 61. He had been suffering from motor meurone disease for three years.

Kim played for Bognor in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He also played for the old Waterlooville FC and had a spell at Pompey in the early 1970s.

A keen cricketer, he played for Hambledon CCC – the village in which he was born – before taking up golf in the later years.

After being diagnosed with motor meurone disease, Kim helped raise more than £30,000 for charities devoted to researching the illness and helping sufferers and their families. A golf day he organised in 2013 netted £5,700.

His friend and former Rocks team-mate Kevin Clements paid tribute, saying: “My family and I are absolutely devastated at the sad news of my dear old friend Kimmie.

“We shared lots of good memories and the laughs we had on the tee boxes. Our love and condolences go to Steph and the family. RIP my dear friend.”

A Rocks spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with Kim’s family and many friends at this time.”
