Pass of the game came from centre back Dan Klamm who played a stunning ball through to Bellamy. Bellamy was still in his own half when he received it and ran half of the pitch before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to pull one back.

Hammers continued to dominate the second half and it was thanks to Atletico glovesman, and man of the match, Theo Botevyle who pulled off a series if stunning saves, that the score remained respectable.

Atletico manager Ricardo Moratalla said: “We knew before the season that we were in a tough league and that has certainly proved to be the case. I was delighted with Joshua Bellamy’s goal, we have been working on finishing in training and it was great to see hard work in training paying off on a match day.”
