Rustington make it back-to-back wins

Rustington Football Club made it back-to-back wins in County League Division 2 on Saturday with a 4-1 victory at home to mid-table Loxwood.

The success was Blues’ third in four league games and has lifted them out of the bottom two and up to fourth from bottom.

They have crashed home 12 goals in two matches, after beating bottom-of-the-table Saltdean 8-1 last week, and boss Ryan Morten said: “Saturday was all about the lads’ attitude, desire and self-belief. I asked them a few weeks ago to look at each other and decide themselves how they wanted the season to go. I asked them to take some responsibility and they have done that, they deserve huge, huge credit.

“We have gone through a tough time, and we are far from out of it. But I always knew deep down that these lads were capable of playing like this, and being a good competitive team in this league – I just think they needed to believe. Hopefully, they do now.”
