Rustington suffer third successive loss

RUSTINGTON Football Club lost for the third successive County League game on Saturday as they went down 2-1 at Little Common in Division 2.

Blues led 1-0 at half-time and their manager Brett Torode was left frustrated by his team’s second half performance. He said: “It was a similar story to the games against Midhurst last week and Mile Oak the week before.

“Although we did okay in the first half, we then sat back and panicked a bit.

“They’re a physical side and played to their strengths, and it was the old adage, a game of two halves.

“Fair play to them, but it was another disappointing result from our point of view. Hopefully, our fortunes will change, starting on Saturday against Storrington. I don’t want to change our style of football, just because we’re in a sticky patch.”

Blues went in front a minute before half-time through Jason Wimbleton, but Rustington struggled for impetus in the second half and Common drew level through Lewis Hole on 65 minutes.

Wimbleton was then sent off for a second bookable offence before Hole’s second in the 78th minute gave Common the win.
