Rye game postponed

Rye United’s game against Hailsham Town tonight (Wednesday) has been postponed.

The Sussex County Football League Division One fixture was called-off because the pitch at Hailsham’s Beaconsfield ground is waterlogged following heavy overnight rain.

The call-off should at least enable the match - which was Rye’s home fixture even though it would have taken place at Hailsham - to be played at The Salts as Rye hope to get their ground up and running soon having been without a home since the arson attack which destroyed the Sidney Allnutt Pavilion in August.

But the postponement merely adds to the backlog of matches facing Scott Price’s side. Rye have played just 14 of 38 league games and are still involved in four cup competitions.
