Rye go marching on

Rye United picked up three more Sussex County Football League points on Tuesday night.

The Quarterboys followed up their 4-0 victory at home to St Francis Rangers on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Shoreham to consolidate sixth place in Division One.

Shaun Loft headed Rye in front from a Paul Watson corner and Scott Ramsay doubled their advantage going into the break with a second goal from Loft’s through ball moments later.

Rye played a lot better during the second half and Ramsay followed up after his own initial effort had been saved to complete the scoring with his fifth goal in two games.

Rye: Pelling; Moreby, Loft, Richardson, P. Watson; Maclean (Gall), Dixon, Upton; Cole (D. Clarke), Ellis, Ramsay (Leach).

A full report and reaction will appear in Friday’s Rye Observer.

Elsewhere, Sidley United moved within a point of Reserve Section (East) leaders Rye with two games in hand courtesy of a 6-1 victory away to crosstown rivals Bexhill United.
