That’s the view of Reds player-assistant manager Tony Craig, who, along with skipper George Francomb, said that the squad will go in whatever ‘direction’ owners WAGMI United choose to take.

Crawley announced that scouts would attend September’s Sidemen FC Charity Match to scope out new talent for their FA Cup first round game on November 5.

And Crawley confirmed this (Thursday) morning that founder of YouTube group the Sidemen, Tobi ‘TBJZL’ Brown, will be ‘evaluated’ during a training session on November 1, alongside his brothers Manny and Jed Brown.

The club said the chosen players will get the ‘opportunity’ to show interim manager Lewis Young ‘what they can do in training’ before a decision is made on their participation in the match against Accrington.

Tobi and Manny both scored during the recent charity match, which raised over £1,000,000 for chosen foundations. The brothers have nearly 20 million combined online followers, and will bring significant publicity to the Reds as WAGMI United attempt to make Crawley the ‘internet’s team’.

“I don’t know much about YouTube,” said Craig. “But for me, as players we’ve just got to look after ourselves. The club will go in the direction it wants to, and we’ll go with it.

“They’ve got to justify themselves, settle into the group, show their worth and we’ll go from there.”

“To be honest, I’m not aware of the Sidemen,” added Francomb. “I’ll doubt they’ll be on the field for the match but if they’re coming to training and that’s what the owners want then we’ll support it.”

Meanwhile, interim manager Young admitted that he hadn’t given much thought to the news, preferring to focus on this Saturday’s League Two game at Bradford City.

“I’m not really aware of it at the minute, I’ve been on the training pitch all morning,” said Young. “I’ll definitely have a conversation with the owners about it next week, but that’s next week.

“I remember the story breaking when Kev [Betsy, former Crawley manager] was here about them being involved in the FA Cup game. But at the moment, my full focus is zoned in on this weekend.”
