Simon Leslie: Eastbourne Borough’s Barbados project shows we’re dreaming big

I am so proud of our Eastbourne Borough fan-base – on Saturday and Tuesday you could feel it in the atmosphere.

With each game, we are starting to come together – in the first half against Dover we were magical, it really was a game of two halves.

Let’s keep the amazing support and the results will follow.

The lads will always battle, and it's the connection with the fans that will make a difference over the long campaign.

We’re not just chasing points, we’re chasing possibility.

The women’s team got their new league season off to a flying start with an 8-1 win. This is a club that wants to create firsts. We have created player of the match coins to celebrate the brilliant performances, well done to Freddie Carter for winning the first one.

And that’s exactly why I want to talk about the ‘Boro to Barbados’ opportunity.

This is not your average raffle. This is not a signed shirt or a free pint. This is a week in paradise, two people, flights, transfers, an all-inclusive stay at the stunning Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord’s Castle.

All you need to do is get the new kit, put it on, get creative with a photo, and share it with #BoroToBarbados. Make sure you tag three of our sponsors when you post - that’s part of the deal. See ebfc.co.uk for full terms and conditions.

But the real prize here isn’t just the holiday. The real prize is what this campaign says about our football club.

We’ve taken a coincidence – Eastbourne in Sussex, Eastbourne in Barbados – and turned it into a global story. That’s what I mean when I say creativity is currency.

Anyone can run a giveaway. Not everyone can create a narrative that makes headlines, captures imaginations and shows the world that Eastbourne Borough is a club with a huge vision.

This is how we stand out. This is how we attract new fans, new sponsors, new opportunities. Because football is more than football now. It’s culture. It’s community. It’s storytelling. And if a non-league club in Sussex can connect to the Caribbean, then what else can we achieve?

So, here’s my invitation to you: get involved. Put on the shirt, snap something fun, share it. Let’s make some noise. Let’s make people talk about us for the right reasons.

And above all, let’s keep believing that Eastbourne Borough can dream as big as any club in the country.

We hope to see you all on at the ReachTV Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday when we play Slough Town FC – come down, get behind the boys, and let’s make Eastbourne proud.
