‘Sloppy’ defending costs Steyning

It was all smiles on Saturday as Steyning fought back to beat Loxwood

Despite handing AFC the advantage, at 2-1 down Town had the chance to get back into the match but Adam Burton missed the penalty and the visitors went up the other end and wrapped up the result.

Suter said: “It was very disappointing. We have got into the habit of giving away silly goals. We did it against Loxwood and we did it last night.

“But even saying that we should have made it 2-2 from the penalty spot, it was such a poor penalty, my grandmother would have struck it harder.”

Jacob Adlam put the visitors ahead on 11 minutes before Omar Bukleb equalised for Town from a corner.

Steyning though were the makers of their own downfall as they passed up the chance to clear allowing Aaron Capon in to score.

Still the hosts had the chance to make amends from the penalty spot when Jason Webb was taken down, but when the kick was saved another error allowed George Callingham in to seal it.

Callum Towse did pull one back for Steyning, and they had chances to level late on but Uckfield left with the points.
