Goal a minute in local derby - Storrington 2 Pulborough 1: Storrington fully deserved their West Sussex League victory in Saturday's local derby with Pulbrorough as astonishingly all three goals came within three minutes. S. Warwick gave Storrington the lead only for the away side to pull level straight from the restart. J. Dodsworth then scored what proved the winning goal immediately and during the second-half Storrington were in control of the game but they could not add anymore goals.

A new green after 40 years

Warnham Comrades Bowling Club were in doubt as they played what looked to be the last game on it own green as they were set to move to Horsham Park next season. This surprising news was given at an annual dinner on Friday by chairman Jack Pickard and he said: “It is quite possible that this evenings annual dinner marks the termination of a bowling era for Warnham.”

Without a win since the second week in September, Horsham Rugby Clubs 1st XV took to the field at Tunbridge Wells with a reshuffled back division, and the knowledge that their opponents conceded more than 70 points last week. Horsham broke the dead lock with two tries in ten minutes, the first coming when the backs robbed the ball off of their opposite numbers for Steve McCall to kick through and score. Horsham were then awarded a penalty try when Paul Parker was obstructed from following up his own high kick. Simon Cripps then finished off a wonderfully well worked move to seal the victory for Horsham.

Horsham suffer defeat - Horsham Men 4 Brighton Polytechnic 7

Following their defeat of Brighton Polytechnic at their Cricket Road ground on Saturday, Horsham Men lied second in the Truman Sussex Hockey League, Division 2. Horsham quickly went ahead when right-winger Barry pea broke through to score. After Patrick Newman had failed to convert a penalty-flick he made amends when he scored from a short corner. Poly reduced arrears when the right-wing broke through several tackles to score, Maurice Baily reduced the margin and also made sure with the fourth in the second half. Despite the defeat they could still remain positive as they have a game in hand over first Haslemere, who were one point ahead.

Horsham signal start of another promotion run - Horsham 1 Slough 0

Six hundred delighted fans saw the hornets get under way on what could prove to be another promotion run at Queen Street on Saturday when they defeated Slough for the first time in eight and a half years. The breakthrough came only a fortnight ago when they held the Rothman’s Isthmian Division 2, League leaders to a draw at Tilbury. They proved it was no fluke as they absorbed all the pressure the runners up could throw at them, they then clinched the three points with a superb strike from C.Newstead ten minutes from time.
