The season has now finished for Pink Flamingos Football Club, and their final win last Thursday was the icing on top of a very impressive cake.

A 4-1 victory against AFC Brighton & Hove meant that the 1st Team lifted the SSFL Trophy, and completed a cup double.

There was little action of note in the first half until stoppage time. Gary Rook picked up the ball for Brighton & Hove inside the Flamingos’ penalty box, and curled a left footed effort into the top corner.

It looked as though the Pinks would go into half-time behind, but Nathan Cooper converted Mike Williamson’s cross almost instantly from the restart.

It was Cooper who swung the game in Flamingos favour in the second half, rocketing a long range effort over the goalkeeper and into the roof of the net.

The game, now well in the Pinks’ control, was put out of sight by substitute Luke Martin in his last game before taking up a soccer scholarship in California. Martin eased past the defence and fired low to seal the game on 70 minutes.

There was time for one final goal, and Martin’s pace once again created the chance. This time Brighton & Hove tried to stop him, but felled the speedy striker and gave away a penalty. With a cool head, Lewis Westlake converted the penalty and wrapped up a 4-1 victory for the Pinks.
