St Francis Rangers looking for positive momentum following first win of season

After picking up their first three points of the season at Montpelier Villa on Sunday, St Francis Rangers are looking for more positive momentum going into their final game of September against Rustington on Saturday.

Goals from Max Wilcox, Oli Munt, Billie Clark and Jake Lindsey secured an emphatic 4-1 victory for the Saints away at Montpelier Villa last time out in an impressive away performance.

Having seen his side bounce back from two defeats against Copthorne and Littlehampton, manager Del Tobias was keen to emphasise how maintaining positive momentum would be key going into the winter period.

He said: “We reacted brilliantly to going behind on Saturday and my players showed that they are more than capable of competing at this level. This result has set the mark for us to go on improve into October and beyond."

Rustington come into Saturday’s game unbeaten in their first three games of the season, having picked up two wins and a draw ahead of their trip to The Colwell Ground. They are also still the reigning SCFL Division 2 champions after the 2019/20 season was ended prematurely due to the Covid –19 pandemic.

Speaking on Saturdays opponents, Tobias was well aware of the threat his side faces on Saturday.

He said: “If we want to be successful in this, getting points against the best teams is paramount, and there will be no room for error against Rustington. We’ve set ourselves high standards, my players are fully aware that work rate and desire will be critical if we want to pick up the three points."

Rangers come into the game with no new injury concerns, midfielder Will Glenn will once again be absent through injury. Aside from this, The Saints will once again have a fully fit squad to choose from.
