Steve Herbert: The magnitude of Crawley Town's trip to Accrington Stanley is off the scale

For all Crawley’s endeavour they never really created that clear cut moment that would have won them the game.

The Shrews were absolutely there for the taking, but a series of wayward passes and over playing meant the Reds had to settle for a point. Under normal circumstances this would have been just fine.

But we don’t find ourselves in normal circumstances right now. We find ourselves deep in the middle of a relegation battle that is going to see two teams from five drop into non league. Harrogate, Barrow, Newport, Tranmere and ourselves are separated by just two points, with two games to go.

It really is anyone’s guess as to who will go down. Fortunately for us we are top of that mini league of five teams, with survival completely in our own hands.

This weekend we head to Accrington Stanley who have been on a shocking run themselves with only one win in their last six. It’s a game Crawley must turn up and prevail in.

The Wham stadium as it’s known, holds fond memories for us. It was the scene of Scott Neilson’s winning goal in 2012 that won us promotion to League One the first time around. This time let’s hope it proves a lucky hunting ground yet again, but for completely different reasons. A win in Lancashire should be enough to secure football league status for a sixteenth season at least. Your presence is required on Saturday. The magnitude of this game is off the scale. The thought of back to back relegations after the heroics of Wembley just two years ago doesn’t bear thinking about.
