'Team talk' - Crawley Town boss gives brilliant response to fan's comment about Charlton Athletic loanee

Anyone who has seen the 116 minutes Kaheim Dixon has played for Crawley Town so far will know Scott Lindsey has some player on his hands.

The Charlton Athletic loanee has lit up this Reds side with his performances, firstly as a substitute against Crewe and then in his first start against MK Dons.

The 20-year-old has made an instant impact and early signs look like he could be as successful as previous loanees such as Kamari Doyle and Karlan Grant.

And after Tuesday’s performance against MK Dons, fans were full of praise, including Gary Ponsford, who posted on the Crawley Town FC Supporters Group on Facebook. He said: “Never mind possession, formation, pivots, etc ... just give it to Dixon ... every time he got the ball, it felt like something would happen ...”

We read that comment out to Scott Lindsey in the build-up to the Tranmere Rovers game and Lindsey responded: “Well, that’s my team talk for Saturday!”

And the Reds boss was equal in his praise for Dixon. “He’s been great,” he said. “He’s so naive in loads of ways but in a good way. He’s so innocent it’s like he’s playing in a park with his mates. It feels like he’s free and he is certainly playing that way.

“There were a couple of great moments the other night [MK Dons] where he drove us up the pitch.

“I remember one action where he pirouetted in the middle of the pitch and got away from Liam Kelly, who brought him down.

“He had a good shot, he probably should have scored in the second half and I think he’s disappointed that he didn’t. But he’s going to create goals and he’s going to score goals.”

“I love working with him, he’s always got a smile on his face. He’s a great kid and he looks like he is enjoying his football and long may that continue.”
