Ten-man EP beat Golds to reach final

JOE Shelley bagged a double as East Preston Football Club reached the final of the John O’Hara Cup with a 2-1 victory over local rivals Littlehampton this evening.

Littlehampton took the lead after only five minutes in the match at Wick & Barnham’s Crabtree Park when striker George Gaskin, who is dual-signed with Ryman League Worthing, headed home from close range.

EP levelled on 18 minutes when Joe Shelley headed home, before East Preston were reduced to ten men on 29 minutes when Alex Duncan was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Within five minutes, EP were ahead when Shelley scored his second from the penalty spot, after he was tripped by Ross McKay.

Golds pressed for a equaliser in the second half but East Preston held on to reach the final, where they will meet Crowborough or Ringmer. They meet in their semi-final clash next Thursday (April 10) at Haywards Heath.
